At the start of the function for bifurcating the Kancheepuram District into the Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu Districts, the Hon. Chief Minister of Tamilnadu formally inaugurated remotely from Chengalpattu, the Check Dam at Vayalur on thePalar River which was completed in a record time of 6 months using an innovative design. The entire fund was provided to the Water Resources Department of the Public Works Department, Tamilnadu by the Department of Atomic Energy to improve thewater resources for the Department of Atomic Energy at Kalpakkam Site as also theentire neighbourhood, in and around the Palar River.
During the function, Director IGCAR & amp; GSO, on behalf of the Department of Atomic Energy, formally handed over the cheque of Rs.32.50 crores to the Hon. Chief Minister of Tamilnadu in the presence of the Hon. Deputy Chief Minister of Tamilnadu and the Collectors of Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu Districts.
